Buffalo was the commonly used phrase for “American Bison” in the USA and in many places of the world. We chose this for our name because it was most widely understood. However an issue has arisen which we are trying to help clarify.
Some companies that resell leather goods have started to use Water Buffalo leather while covertly calling it “Buffalo Leather,” to make you think you’re getting high quality American Bison leather.
At Buffalo Billfold Company we only use high quality, real American Bison leather. How do you know? We’ve been recognized by the National Bison Association as being the first to use real Bison leather in products and they have featured us in their Bison World magazine multiple times.
