Buffalo Stones
Our Buffalo Stones are the perfect addition to any stone collection and are a high quality collectable item for those that love American Bison like we do! These Buffalo stones are entirely unique because they’re each cut from a different part of the material. Nothing is fabricated. Our Buffalo Stones come in Agate, Calcite, Labradorite, Orbicular Jasper, Picture Jasper, and Petrified Wood. Plus, each one comes in a handmade full grain leather pouch that we make here at our leather shop.
Types of Stone
Our Buffalo Stones come in many types of materials including Agate, Calcite, Labradorite, Orbicular Jasper, Picture Jasper, and Petrified Wood. Each has it’s own unique qualities and look. This means that when you order one, it will definitely be of the material you want. However the patterns and markings on each Buffalo will be different than what is pictured since we can’t take a photo of each one. You can choose the material and then specify in the notes what sort of qualities you’re looking for. We’ll hand pick the best one we can find based off your detailed request and our current inventory.
Agate
Living in Minnesota, we often traveled to the North Shore of Lake Superior in the summer. It’s a great place to travel to with family and friends. And when you’re there, you’d be remiss to not do a bit of agate hunting! An Agate is actually a banded form of a mineral called Chalcedony. An Agate can come in many patterns and colors, so our Buffalo Stone Agates will also be highly unique and vary in color.
Calcite
Calcite is a beautiful mineral that comes in many different shades. This important mineral is used to make limestone and even marble! You can find Calcite in small items like these Buffalo Stones, or larger items, like the pillars of a Supreme Court building. Calcite’s uniqueness and beauty makes this mineral a great addition to our Buffalo Stones.
Labradorite
You may have seen this feldspar mineral before. It’s beautiful iridescence, know as labradorescence, is hard to miss. Labradorite is primarily found on Paul’s Island in Labrador, Canada but is located elsewhere in the world too. The amazing optical iridescent effect within this Buffalo Stone is captivating!
Orbicular Jasper
Orbicular Jasper is a form of Jasper that has spheres or orbs of different sizes that are located in specific areas. These spheres vary in their density and are very beautiful. We’ve seen a wide range of the Orbicular Jasper Buffalo Stone, but it’s definitely a crowd favorite!
Picture Jasper
With very earthy tones tones and amazing banding, our Picture Jasper Buffalo Stone fits perfectly into the native prairies and landscapes. Picture Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of quartz and fits well into any stone collection.
Petrified Wood
The grains and lines in Petrified Wood make it stand out against other minerals. You’ll love the browns and oranges, of dark and light colors because it really feels like this Buffalo Stone is from the prairie.
NK –
While I don’t have one of these stones I’ve seen them all in person at their Brick and Mortar shop in Worthington, MN and they’re amazing. They’re all polished incredibly well and have an amazing luster to them. Calcite might be my favorite, but they’re all really cool! Plus they come in a Buffalo leather storage pouch.
